My Bio
Amateur Orthodox Iconographer and attempted Paleo-artist, I focus on using both impressionism and techniques in Eastern Orthodox Iconography to depict the divine, the sublime, and the mundane. And the awesome.

Well that, and I do love making abstract art. It's sometimes easier for me to express emotions and feelings that way, than with words. (I admit, most of my abstracts are strongly inspired by Rothko)

As another, I recently found an image from a Byzantine manuscript of Christ creating the cosmos, that looks a LOT like a cell.  My thought on this is--why not?  So at some point, I want to write an icon of Christ "creating" a euka

The problem with being a birder and painting feathered dinosaurs is trying to figure out WHICH plumage and WHICH bird(s) you want to base your latest dinosaur on. I've gone through Summer Tanager, Spotted Towhee, and Andean Cock-of-the-Rock as ideas for this pair of courting dromaeosaurs: specifically, Dromaeosaurus albertensis, as the last of the Dinosaur Park Formation Quartet. Finally settled on something loosely based off of a mix of all three, with blue thrown in. Now I just need to start painting them... I'm going to base the plumage of the female loosely off of Spotted Towhees (I've always found them to be pretty dapper), which also h
